Information for university and college admissions teams on the impact of Coronavirus
Like many other institutions, BRGS Sixth Form was impacted by coronavirus during the national lockdown last year when most current UCAS applicants were in year 12. Resources were provided, via google classroom for remote teaching and in many cases lessons were streamed live.
There was a significant impact on students ability to take part in extra curricular activities and contribute to the wider life of the school. We were unable to allow students to contribute as student ambassadors, mentors and offer subject support to younger students. We are only just starting up our prefect programme. Many students were unable to take part in face-to-face work experience, though a significant number were able to find online or virtual work placements or mentoring.
We have also not been able to offer the same programme for students entering competitive courses who would normally be offered interview practice, discussion groups or preparation for admission tests.
