Her fair but firm approach and brilliant sense of humour quickly made her a favourite with students and staff alike. Mrs Weir has spent all of her teaching career at BRGS – excluding a break to bring up her daughter and twin boys - nearly 40 years!

Mr Ward retired at the end of the Christmas term 2010 and had made a sterling contribution to BRGS over 33 years.

Head of PE, 1983 - 2011

Mrs Taylor, Deputy Head, stepped down from her post after a career spanning 24 years at BRGS.

Mrs. L. Taylor
Deputy Head 1987 - 2011

Joined BRGS in 1983 and remained an astonishing 28 years. Alongside Mr Baird, Mrs Smith has increased sporting provision hugely excelling personally in tennis and netball.

Mrs. G. L. Spokes
Assistant Head, 2007 - 2010

Ms Spokes quickly established herself at BRGS as not only an excellent languages’ teacher and efficient assistant head, but as the one who, as specialist school’s manager, led BRGS so successfully into a change of designation, from a technology to a maths and computing college and then to embrace a second specialism, that of training school.
