A-Level Results 2000
20 August 2000
This year's A-level results are a resounding success: all previous records are utterly smashed!
A - E Pass Rate of 96.9%
This figure alone speaks for itself, but the results really are amazing. The previous best A - E pass rate was 94.3%
This figure doesn't show the quality of the grades that were achieved by BRGS students. The A - B Pass rate is 48.8% That equates to a total of 284 exam entries that gained a B or higher. This beats the previous record of 39.4%.
All of this is good news for students who are looking for places at university because the average UCAS points score per student is 25.1. (The previous record was 21.1)
Unsurprisingly we also have a record number of pupils who will be going to study at either Oxford or Cambridge. The previous record was four, but this year we have 8 students with Oxbridge Places
There were 26 students in the year who had 3 or more grade As and of those there are 3 students with an outstanding 5 grade As:
- Sally Chadwick, Crawshawbooth
- Jenny-Lee Crozier, Todmorden
- Lisa Mark-Bell, Whitworth
he headmaster, Mr. Morris praised staff and students: "Although this was an able year group, their hard work and the dedication of the BRGS staff have yielded results beyond our wildest dreams.
In response to cynics who suggest that examinations are getting easier Mr. Morris said "I would challenge them to try taking them."
It all goes to show what a great place BRGS is to study your A-levels. The following facts should be considered by anyone who is wondering where to sit their A-levels:
- Every student passed at least one A-level
- The school has had no failing students for the last four years.
- 18 subjects of the 24 on offer had 100% pass rates.
