Following a couple of months to get their drawing and acrylic painting skills up to A level standard and the intensive study of portrait artists such as Hockney, Freud and Saville, the Lower Sixth then had a brilliant opportunity to work with a practising artist.

Lucy Burscough a talented Manchester based artist, came in to school for three afternoon sessions in November to work with them on producing large scale acrylic portraits. The photographs here are showing all three sessions and demonstrate how their work progressed. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the wonderful results show how inspired they were.

To round the whole project off, a lovely new gallery in Crawshawbooth has agreed to exhibit all (approx 35) of the portraits the second week in January.
