Sophie Horrocks, 11N, has been selected to represent England at the World Schools Orienteering Championships at Madrid.

Sophie, 16, earned her trip to Spain at Easter by coming second in a world championship qualifying event at the British Schools Championship, near Farnborough.

Tom Gray said: ‘Sophie has got to the top of the tree in schools orienteering in just four years and is certainly one to watch for in British junior squads. She has a lot of backing and encouragement from her parents and there are three members of the family who are all quite accomplished orienteers. Next year could well be boosted into the British junior squad.’
