On Friday, May 11th, four girls from 9G walked 10 miles to school in fancy dress.

Georgina, Sarah, Iona and Laura have already raised over £600 in sponsorship and have shown wonderful commitment to this cause. The money raised will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust which helps teenagers in all aspects of life when coping with cancer.

We left Limefield Brow just before 7am. Our route took us up Walmersley Road then dropped down Bury New Road into Ramsbottom, up Kay Brow then on through Stubbins. The motorway bridge near Edenfield was the welcome sight of the half way mark.
We then rejoined Whalley Road, going through Edenfield and beyond, eventually reaching Tesco at Rawtenstall, 7 miles under our belts. We continued past Rawtenstall Bus Station and up Bacup Road. We approached school via the Tuck Shop, adding the final 0.2 miles onto the walk.

Sun shone, but wind factor high. Drizzle along the way, but we kept spirits up by singing along the way!

Completed in 3.5 hours. Arrived at school just before 10.30 as one of the sponsors said they would pay an inflated amount if we arrived at school for half ten. We ran the last little bit to achieve this.

To add variety to the walk, we tried to complete each mile in a variety of ways; 0.5 mile jogging, 1 mile Georgina giving Sarah piggyback, 1 mile Laura walking backwards, 1 mile Iona carrying all bags, 1 mile in group hug, 1 mile in conga line, 1 mile Laura side stepping and 0.5 mile 3 legged and the rest walking!!!

We have raised over £1000, Thank You!
