Alan Porteous, Headteacher, said:
"We are delighted that the results achieved by our Year 11 students this year continue our sustained record of outstanding academic attainment. With the wholesale change to the qualification system, and the introduction of number grades across all subjects, it is very difficult to make comparisons with previous years, but we are very pleased that our students, with the support of our staff, have risen to the challenge of the new more difficult GCSE qualifications and have achieved so well. We congratulate them on their achievements and look forward to welcoming them into our sixth form, along with students from other schools, to continue their studies to A level."
Orla Holt gained 10 grade 9 and 1 grade 8 at GCSE. Orla is a keen scientist and is intending to pursue A levels at BRGS with the intention to study Natural Sciences at university. Extremely dedicated to her studies, Orla also plays the piano and clarinet, skis and runs (800m, 1500m and cross country) at county and national level. Orla volunteers at a local children's project Wonderful Things and has taken part in debating competitions, completing both Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Stephen Rayner has gained 9 grade 9 and 2 grade 8s at GCSE. Stephen has a number of fond memories of BRGS and particularly the school trip to China which combined his love of history and human geography whilst allowing him to experience a new culture. In addition to the curriculum, Stephen has been a member of the Debating Society and undertaken guitar tuition. He intends to study History, Religious Studies, German and English Literature at A level at BRGS. His hope is to attend a Russell Group university to study History and he aspires to work within the Foreign Office following graduation.

Anna has wanted to be a vet surgeon since a young age and at A level at BRGS she intends to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths with the aim of completing a veterinary degree at university.
