Former student Jess Leyden has been selected for the GB women's rowing quadruple squad for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

British rowing describes Jess as "one of the country's most promising young rowers having won World Championships gold at both junior and U23 level."  She is the first ever GB rower to win an international women's single scull title.

Great Britain reserved a women's quadruple sculls spot at the Olympics for the first time since 2012 at the rowing World Championships in August 2019 with the team of Jess Leyden, Melissa Wilson, Mathilda Hodgkins Byrne, Charlotte Hodgkins Byrne competing against Poland and the USA for the two available semi-final spots. The GB team crossed the line by the smallest of margins: 0.18 seconds ahead of the USA crew to take second place.
