Lilly in Year 12 received a Young Carers Award for her support of the local community during lockdown alongside her charity volunteering. Congratulations Lilly!

Lilly is one of the leaders of the BRGS Charities Committee with Honey and Lily (Year 12) alongside significant input from Hattie (Year 13) and the rest of the enthusiastic year group representatives.  For this year, after narrowing down the huge array of charities and seeking a whole school student vote, the following charities were chosen to support in 2021-2022:

Lancashire Mind - this is a continuing relationship with the school also supporting this essential mental health charity in 2020-2021.

Milly's Smiles - this charity provides a Milly Bag to every family whose child has been admitted to Manchester, Alder Hey and Leeds Children’s Hospitals with a new cancer diagnosis. Milly's Smiles help them through those first few weeks of their unexpected hospital stay, when families are bewildered and facing a long spell in hospital with their child.

Alzheimer's Society - dementia is the UK's biggest killer with someone developing dementia every three minutes according to the Alzheimer's Society.  The Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity.  The charity campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.
