Examinations
The Examinations Office
The Examinations Office deals with all aspects of external examinations at GCSE and A Level, this includes entries, managing the examinations, results and post-results services. Working alongside the SENDCO, the Examinations Office deals with those students with Special Needs and ensures their examination requirements are met.
We also manage any external university examination tests such as BMAT and other entrance exams.
If you need to contact the exams office please email exams@brgs.org.uk
The exams office is staffed during term time between the hours of 8am and 4pm
If you would like to see the current list of subjects and the examination taken please click here. Please be aware that these may change from year to year so it is worth checking with the Head of Department for any subject if you are in any doubt.

Timetables
All timetables and entries for examinations will be found on Synergy. These will be specific to your child and may differ from someone else’s timetable. Dates for external examinations are fixed and cannot be moved under any circumstances.
Where a candidate has a timetable clash this will be organised by the exams office and the information given to the individual candidate.
Contingency Days
JCQ in conjunction with the exam boards set a contingency day each year at the end of the exam season. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam until the contingency day. This decision is not a school decision and applies to all students in all schools. The provisional contingency dates for 2023 are as follows:
Thursday 8th June 2023
Wednesday 28th June 2023
Results Days
A Level and GCSE results are released on set days in accordance with the protocols set by JCQ. Centres are not allowed to release results before 8am. The results days for 2023 have not been confirmed yet
If you are unable to attend in person to collect your results please contact exams@brgs.org.uk before the end of the school term to make alternative arrangements.
Certificates
All certificates are given out at Speech Night, you will be sent an invitation to this by email so please make sure that the school has your up to date contact information.
Any certificates that are not collected at Speech Night can be collected in person from the exams office during the Spring Term. To arrange collection please email exams@brgs.org.uk, you will need to bring photographic ID with you when you attend. If someone is collecting on your behalf then please let the exams office know their name and they must bring some ID.
Unfortunately we are unable to post out certificates.
Please note the JCQ regulations on certificates:
Centres may destroy any unclaimed certificates by a secure method (for example by shredding or incineration) after holding them for a period of 12 months from the date of issue.
If we no longer have your certificates you will need to contact the relevant boards for assistance. Boards cannot provide replacement certificates only a certified copy of results and it can take up to 4 weeks. There is a charge for this service.
Private Candidates/Resit Candidates
We are able to accept private candidates for examinations that do not require any practical examinations or non-examined assessment. Resit candidates may carry forward any practical marks.
