19 December 2006

Pupil James Mitchell sat at our new grand piano, sixth form student Charlotte Cole presenting her drawing to Alan Torevell (Chairman of the BRGS Sports Hall Committee).

Former student, Jane Biran, was the guest speaker at our Senior Speech Night on the 18th December 2006. Jane is a writer, lecturer, fund-raiser and adviser to an international charity. Jane shared with the audience the importance of teaching as a profession and how it can shape young people. Whilst at school, Jane appeared in various school productions including ‘Pygmalion’ and ‘Hobson’s Choice’ and the last time she was on the school stage was to pick up her own school prizes at Senior Speech Night. Jane spoke of her memories of BRGS and how you form friendships at school which last a lifetime.

Speech Night was an opportunity to formally thank our Chairman of the BRGS Sports Hall Appeal Committee, Alan Torevell, by presenting him with a drawing of BRGS by sixth form student, Charlotte Cole.

We were also delighted to ‘unveil’ our new grand piano which was generously donated by close friends of the school. The piano was played beautifully by Jessica Holt and James Mitchell.
