Sixth Form Charity Fashion Show March 2009

On Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th March, over 400 people enjoyed 2 nights of fashion, dancing and music presented by students of BRGS Sixth Form who were raising money for Derian House, a children’s hospice in Cheshire. This dazzling annual charity event is invariably a sell out and has been running since the late ‘90s and is most notable for being the show that arguably launched the catwalk career of Agyness Deyn, then Laura Hollins, who took part when she attended the sixth form.

The theme of the evenings was music and fashion through the decades, from the 50’s through to the noughties, featuring dances and catwalk parades with a mixture of modern and retro styles.

Tufties in Rawtenstall kindly styled our models’ hair for the evening before they stepped out confidently down the catwalk dressed in the latest clothing ranges generously loaned by local retailers Remy in Rawtenstall, Solo and New Look in Rochdale along with footwear from Jacobson’s in Rawtenstall.
The finale to the evening was a stunning display of magnificent ballgowns and evening wear from Just Gorgeous in Crawshawbooth

Mr Morriss and Ms Wilkes, the show organisers, commented “it was a real team effort. The students were fantastic; all the dance routines were choreographed by themselves, and they showed confidence, commitment, and a level of cooperation that academic studies alone cannot provide. In these uncertain economic times it is good to be supporting local retailers, and we are very grateful for the clothes they
lent us.”
