At 7:15 on Friday 12th June, 18 students and teachers gathered at Piccadilly station in Manchester to travel to the London International Music Show ’09.

With Burger King for breakfast, the students were set to complete the journey across London in rush hour to the ExCel Exhibition Centre at London Docklands. Arriving at the venue, to be greeted by staff from Music For Youth, who were running the special events throughout the day.Led to the main stage area the students participated in an event called the ‘Big Gig’. Hundreds of young singers, drummers, percussionists, guitarists and pianists joined together to perform songs, filling the whole venue with music.

Then it was time to be let loose around the exhibitions. Hundreds of big and little names from the world of guitars, drums, music tech and other instruments each had stalls where visitorscould try out the latest gear. As they wandered around the venue the students were handed bags with freebies and catalogues from each dealer. As the pictures show it was a great day out for all, with fantastic opportunities to see and try the best equipment in the business, even if their hands were a little achy by the end of the day from all the bags they were given!
