House of Commons Reception
13 March 2014
Alumni of all ages joined us for a special London reception to celebrate our Centenary at the House of Commons on Wednesday 12th March. Jake Berry, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, generously hosted the reception on our behalf, treating guests to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Houses of Parliament.
Guests could access the terrace overlooking the Thames and we even welcomed some honorary alumni as guests for the adjacent Channel 4 reception tried to join us. Guests enjoyed celebrity-spotting with and eclectic mix of actress Lindsay Duncan; Academy Award Winner Director of 12 Years a Slave, Steve McQueen, and the cast of The Inbetweeners!
Alumni were encouraged to reflect on what value they place on their time at BRGS and consider how they might support our Centenary Appeal. Guests were treated to inspiring speeches by our Head Girl Anna Ainsworth and our Head Boy Saumitra Mishra, who both made emotional and heart-warming speeches.
