All our Year 10 students competed in an Enterprise Day hosted by the LionHeart Challenge at the beginning of term.  The LionHeart Challenge is a Nationwide Enterprise Programme acclaimed by Sir Howard Davies MBE (Former Director of the LSE) and chosen as a national flagship by the National Learning and Skills Council for Enterprise.  The scheme has been delivered to over 250,000 pupils across the country.

The challenge set to our students was to design an item of clothing which is technologically advanced.  Previous themes have included the design of a product or device that would be a new and invaluable addition to a paramedic in improving life chances or to design a product or device which will have a ground-breaking impact on personal safety for young people in the UK and beyond.

The winning team from the in-house challenge consisted of Katie Thompson, Olivia Stell, Mark Wilkinson, Adam Bull, Amy Whitehead, Rebecca Hall, Matthew Howarth, Rohail Mahmood and Thomas George.  When judging the teams, pupils are marked for effective teamwork, budgeting skills, marketing plans and presentation skills.  The students will go on to the Regional Final later in the year.

The LionHeart Challenge business coaches who hosted the competition commented that the input of the pupils “was truly outstanding” and “all of the Judges were really impressed by the pupils’ enthusiasm and quality of input throughout the whole day.”

Good luck in the next round!
