Congratulations to our athletes who were overall winners in the Rossendale Athletics Championships in September 2016. A fantastic achievement and well deserved! 

The postponed Rossendale Schools' Athletics Championships took place at the prestigious City of Manchester Athletics Stadium in Manchester  at the end of September; providing the opportunity for our talented young athletes to showcase their talent, competing in a professional arena.  

Winning the overall title was the Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School Team taking the title from 2015 winners Alder Grange who finished second with Haslingden High third.   BRGS  year 7, 8 and 9 girls and the year 7 and 8 boys won their competitions. Alder Grange winning the year 9 boys.  A number of Rossendale records were broken (see below).  All athletes from across Rossendale had raised the bar since the previous year with Brendan Baird, Head of PE at BRGS commenting:  "We are very proud of our athletes’ commitment and performances. It was a wonderful event and we must thank Mrs Wilson and staff from Haslingden HS for organising the event  "
