Congratulations to BRGS A Level Students on their excellent exam results!

In 2017:

•    The percentage of students gaining A* to B grades at A level was 68%.  

•    The overall achievement at A*/A was 39% which we expect to be significantly higher than the national figure. (2017 national figure to be confirmed but in 2016 it was 25.8%).

•    40 students achieved the excellent standard of three or more passes at grade A*/A. This constitutes 21% of the year group. 

•    4 students achieved 4 A*/As: Matt Fry, Olivia Healey, Bethanne Jones and William Moppett 

•    9 students achieved 3 A* : Isabel Cormack, Holly Ewens, Aimie Foster, Matt Fry, Olivia Healey, Bethanne Jones, William Moppett, Georgia Service and Anna Shepherd  

•    At least 8 students have achieved places to study at Oxford or Cambridge Universities – they are Tom Chesworth, Olivia Healey and Sam Porteous (Cambridge) and Aimie Foster, Olivia James, Bethanne Jones, Will Moppett and Amy Wilkinson (Oxford)

•    5 students have achieved a place to study Medicine with one student going on to study Dentistry.  

Alan Porteous, Headteacher said:  “The year has been particularly challenging for our students as they have responded to the increased demands of the new A-level courses.  We are delighted with these results which reflect the hard work and effort of our students over the past two years, and the dedication of our staff who have prepared them so well for these more challenging examinations and have enabled them to achieve so highly. We are very proud of all our students’ achievements and wish them every success in the future.”
