The BRGS value of opportunity with students being provided with the chance to "embrace every opportunity to develop skills, create memories and have fun" was the vision we intended to offer through our enrichment days at the end of term.

Years 7 and 9 had an opportunity to test out their team-building skills through a range of activities including a challenging drainpipe rollerball; giant tangrams and puzzle boxes; a giant's maze; nightline;  land skis; water challenges; stepping stones and much more.   Year 7s were also treated to a visit from award-winning author Phil Earle who inspired students and led them in a writing challenge.   The Year 7 Maths Challenge was hotly-contested with inter-form football and longball competitions with students representing Euro 2021 nations was a great success.   Year 7s also had an insight into the world of politics designing their own policies and spending priorities and a final activity was a work experience focused session from the company REED and a hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activity too.

Year 8 had a STEM Day to help address in a small part the limited opportunities for students to see science in action in the labs.  They also had a football themed day with their inter-form competition followed by the Sports Hall being converted into a theatre for a modern-day interpretation of Romeo and Juliet with the Montagues and Capulets now transported into the rivalry of Manchester City and Manchester United.  The afternoon offered an opportunity to watch live theatre which had been sadly missed over the course of the year and was performed by the North West Theatre Arts Company.

For Year 9, they had a mix of inter-form sports; careers session (Barclays 'Who am I activity?' as well as a fun Modern Foreign Languages quiz accompanied by traditional European foods and culminating in team-building activities on their final day.

The bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award called for the majority of our Year 10 students with those in school focusing on leadership skills training, tailored virtual work experience, the iDEA award and a day-long mock trial.
