Sixth form student Phoebe Newton-Hughes will be representing Great Britain by competing in the European Fencing Championships in Sochi.  She will compete in the Women's Foil in the competition from the 2nd-11th March.  In the lead up to the Championship she will be competing in U17 competitions in Rome and Zagreb.

Phoebe started fencing aged 10 at Salle Kiss fencing club in Bury and was first selected to fence for England aged 12 and then for Great Britain aged 13.  She is currently ranked first in the British Cadet U17 ranking and in September of last year she won individual silver and team gold medals representing England in the school games at Loughborough.
