BRGS students are celebrating receiving their GCSE results today – with over a fifth of all GCSE grades at the highest grade 9.

The results follow two years of unprecedented challenges for our students and in spite of these challenges:

  • 21.8% of all GCSE grades at the highest grade 9.
  • 60.6% of all grades were at 9-7
  • 64.4% of the year group achieved 5 GCSEs at the highest grades of 9-7.
  • Our English Baccalaureate figure, the percentage of students achieving a 9 to 4 grade in English, Mathematics, Science (dual award or two single Science subjects), a humanities subject and a MFL subject was 90.0%.

A number of students achieved exceptionally highly with:

  • 37 students achieving 5 or more grade 9s, 26 of these with 7 or more grade 9s
  • 49 out of 180 students (27%) achieving all 9-7 in their subjects.
  • 20 out of 180 students (11%) achieving all 9-8 in their subjects.
  • 1 student achieving grade 9 in all of their subjects.

James Johnstone, Deputy Headteacher, said: Our students have done themselves and our school proud.  These outcomes come after the disruption over recent years and it is a pleasure to see students get the recognition they deserve after five years of hard work.  I should also like to recognise the dedication and commitment of our teachers and support staff in preparing students for their exams.  We wish our students the very best for their next steps and these successes should enable them to approach their next stage of education with real confidence and self-belief.”
